WORKSHOP UPDATE: EVENT IS POSTPONED DUE TO WEATHER AND PENDING PERMIT
I would like to invite you down to my home away from home. Within the past 3 months, I have spent over 30 hours at Island Beach State Park studying and photographing wild Red Foxes and Arctic Snowy Owls. I have captured some really amazing photographs and I'm looking forward to sharing them with you very soon. However, I don't just want to show you a photograph, I want you to experience these beautiful creatures first hand! Please join me for a day down at the beach, where we will be surrounded by the most amazing baby Red Foxes and admire a beautiful pair Arctic Snowy Owls that migrate here from the Northern Canada. During this workshop, I will assist you in maximizing your photography skills, teaching you about your camera, educating you on Red Foxes and Arctic Snowy Owls, and spend some time reviewing your images with you.
When: Saturday, January 24th (Rain Date Jan 25th)
Time: 8:00am - 2:00pm
Where: Island Beach State Park, NJ
Who: Everyone! I can take a maximum of 4 people in my SUV
Weather: 40 degrees / Partly Sunny
Price: FREE *suggested price $15*
Photograph a handful of beautiful baby wild Red Foxes, within 10-15 feet!
- Search and photograph the rare Snowy Owls along the dunes
- Review your photos and offer Photoshop techniques and tricks I often use.
What do you need to bring?
- A DSLR camera. Point & Shoot cameras will be just fine for the foxes, however, it would not be sufficient to photograph the Snowy Owls (binoculars would be great to bring as well)
- A minimum of 200mm lens will be needed for the Snowy Owls
- Lunch (there is no where within or nearby the park to purchase food or water)
- Extra clothing layers - majority of our time will be spend outside (3-4 hours) while being surrounded by the ocean and bay (winter hat, scarf, gloves, etc)
What if I only have a cell phone camera?
If you're asking me if you can take a selfie with a wild Red Fox for your social media pleasures, then yes, of course your cell phone camera would be just fine. I enjoy observing the wildlife through binoculars rather than my camera quite often. My equipment will also be available to use throughout the day!
Can I meet the group at the park?
Yes, absolutely! Please send me an e-mail and we will arrange a place to meet up.
Why is there a suggested price?
The $15 suggested price would go towards gas, tolls, park entrance fee, teaching you how to use your camera and maximize your photography skills, educate you about Red Foxes and why Snowy Owls migrate to New Jersey, and guide you through Photoshop editing techniques.
Ready to sign up?
If you are interested in this adventure with me, please e-mail me at Snap@ericchandler.me. Please include your name, contact info, camera equipment, if you would like to carpool the way down or meet us there, and how many people you would like to bring, if any.
If you would like to contribute the suggested $15 for the workshop, I do accept cash and/or credit cards!
This is my first workshop and I'm really looking forward to it. I understand it is sort of a short notice, but I see a few more of these being setup within the next few weeks. I hope you can make it!
