Good morning! I'm sure you have heard about my trip to Alaska coming up in April, but have you heard that I will be driving to Anchorage from New Jersey? I always wanted to travel and this road trip will give me such amazing experiences and photo opportunities. A lot of people have no idea how beautiful this country is, or appreciate it. Hell, I'm one of them. Many think you have to leave the country in order to find the wonders of the world. Traveling across country will throw in so many new perspectives on the cultures right here in the USA. I'm pumped!
The route to Anchorage has not yet been confirmed, however, we will be traveling through Cleveland, Chicago, and Minneapolis. To continue along the upper states or venture through Canada has yet to be determined. The exact date for this trip is also not definite just yet, but I am more than happy to work with your schedule. Leaving on a Friday or early Saturday would be ideal. We could get to Chicago well within one traveling day (12 hour drive) and that will leave us with huge options on where to venture to next.
What will you need to bring?
- valid drivers license (I'm not driving the whole damn time!)
- sleeping bag
- snacks (I prefer lots of Chips Ahoy)
Pack little as possible. We will mostly only be traveling together for 2-4 days and you do need to catch a plane ride home. Or you can come all the way to Anchorage with me! (Flights from Anchorage to Newark are under $330!) Believe it or not, freight trans are inexpensive and travel all over the country.
Being that I'm driving over 4,000 miles to my new home, I have no issue with sleeping in the back of my SUV with a sleeping bag. If we are making excellent timing.... scratch that.. THERE IS NO TIMING!! We are doing what we want at our own damn pace! But getting back to sleeping, when we find an extremely creepy truck stop hotel, we are definitely spending the night there!
Why am I creating this post 5 months in advance? Well, typically when it comes to traveling, a lot of people bail. I understand that life gets in the way at times, but I'm going with or without you! This is to see who would be interested and we can also start brainstorming super awesome places to stop at or crash at. I guess whoever is interested first has first dibs.
LET'S DO IT!
